How to successfully transition from winter to spring February 21 2022

So we may be coming towards the end of February but as this past weekend has shown we are certainly not through with winter. However with the White Snowdrops, colourful crocuses and the odd daffodil making an appearance I’m starting to get itchy feet about spring. Don’t get me wrong i love winter styling with chunk knits and tweed skirts but I am ready to start switching it up by incorporating some spring feels into my wardrobe.

I am not about to start insisting you go out and buy a whole new wardrobe just for spring but i can help you with just a few extra pieces to go with your existing winter wardrobe. So lets make a start...

Layers are Key

Spring can be glorious but it can also be pretty miserable in a matter of half an hour so on these days layers are your best friend. Think Lightweight sweaters, cardigans over a frilly Shirt. Alternatively you may already have one of our Ainderby Oversized Tops... this is great for layering as its already super roomy and you can even pair it with white jeans for a really fresh look

Choose light or Bright

Now dark colours such as navy or black aren’t just for winter but to help breathe new life into an outfit choose either a light or bright contrast in your layers, these can even be the accessories you wear, such as our new Knotted tweed Hair bands.

Transition the Classics for all year round wear.

Take advantage of your tweed skirt, a classic that can be worn all year round when paired with the right layers. As you transition from winter to spring you will start with the need to pair you skirt with tights however as the days get warmer you may opt of a lighter denier and as summer approaches you may decide to be bare legged with sandals however that’s a few months down the line from now. So in the meantime keep to tights and lighter colours on your the top half.

The perfect winter accessories for walking January 23 2022

One of our favourite walks has to be at Studley Royal Deer Park, near Ripon North Yorkshire. Beautiful parkland scenery with over 500 wild Red, Fallow and Sika Deer unfortunately we did get the chance to see any today however that certainly didn't spoil our Sunday walk with Bee.
.

My choice of outfit for our country walk:

Pactical as always this time of year calls for wellie boots, thick socks and a water proof coat to avoid any chance of a shower. I chose to Accessorise with our tweed snoods, cosy yet practical for fitting under a thick coat. You can find a large selection of tweed snoods available through the website, including in the Fern Tweed which I wore today.
.
.
Extras you could add to your outfit include, the tweed hair scrunchie perfect for keeping your hair back on windy days...
.
.
Also the tweed headbands are super popular this time of year, keeping your hair in place but also keeping your ears warm on windy days. I plan to bring more tweed headbands to match the snoods in coming months

5 Way to include Tweed into your style this spring!! April 10 2021

5 Tweed Clothing and Accessories your going to love wearing this Spring!!

Tweed Ainderby Oversized Top - perfect for a spring evening BBQ with friends and family, now that we are allowed of course, style with white jeans for a light contrast and to take you through to summer

Tweed Skirt - Taking you to the beers gardens this April... Pair with boots and bare legs if your feeling brave... alternatively pop on some tights and a bright coloured jumper.

Tweed Jessica Snood -  We have been having some rather chilly mornings with a white frost most days. what I have found to be useful is one of our Jessica tweed snood, for when I'm dashing about, going to the yard ,to the supermarket or even walking the dog that extra layer makes all the difference. If you pair it with a light coloured hoodie this will lighten the tweed giving your those spring vibes with the warmth of tweed.

Tweed Hair Scrunchie - Spring can be months of mixed weather, we have multiple (what I call) false springs where you think spring has arrived then another bout of cold weather arrives. Also mornings can be chilly then we get a heatwave mid day followed by a blustery afternoon, what's even worse.. you get the uncontrollable hair to go with it making it perfect hair scrunchie weather avoid that drama of hair in your face yet look stylish and fashionable.

Also I have a discount on all out hair scrunchies at the moment, simply add discount code 2 for £12 at the checkout

Tweed Facemasks - it looks like our facemasks will be here for the foreseeable so lets make them classy whilst we are visiting shops, heading to the pub or perhaps in the working environment think wear Tweed!

If you have any suggestions of how to get tweed into you spring wardrobe send me a message I would love to hear them!

Time to don that tweed thinking hat of yours and find a special gift for Mum or Grandma this Mothers Day! March 04 2021

Top Tweedy Treats to buy Mum and Grandma this Mothers Day

This years Mothering Sunday is only a few weeks away...Sunday 14th March to be exact. So time to put on your tweed hat and start thinking of gifts... to give you a hand I have personally selected some tweedy treats we just know your mum/grandma is going to love!

First up our good friend the facemask available in both the cotton or tweed check. All our face masks are received with 1x filter and 1x bendable nose band - which I hear is great for preventing steam if mum or grandma wears glasses. We have some really pretty floral ones, very Cath Kidson also some fun animal prints as well as our traditional and vibrant tweed checks. 2 for £15 for the cotton facemasks or £10.50 for our tweed facemasks. Extra filters and nosebands available to purchase separately.

We may be heading into spring and lighter nights but I can guarantee we are still having those chilly mornings and cold evenings however a cosy headband is just the answer! A really useful present especially if mum/grandma really loves being active in the great outdoors.

Next is the Jessica Snood which made an appearance on my Instagram reels last week and lots of you loved this style. Easy to wear our Jessica Snood is similar to the Classic Snood, with the button and loop detail. However the pleated suede frames the face giving this detail the wow factor! Great to match with our Headbands.

An alternative to our Tweed Snoods and Jessica Snoods are our Alice Scarf. A neat detailed scarf, also fleece lined crosses over the body to pull thorough a loop. This neat scarf isn't as chunky as our snoods and will certainly carry them  through the seasons.

Keeping it cosy in the home with our scatter Tweed Cushion, handmade with applique detail each cushion features beautiful countryside animals, tones and textures of warmth to fill the home. Perhaps mum is Quackers... and this is the perfect gift, or you want to tell her their's only one baa-my lady round here!

All these beautiful Tweed Accessories and gifts are handmade with love here in Yorkshire using Yorkshire woven Tweed, making them the perfect thoughtful gift for Mum or Grandma. So pull out all the cloth and spread some Yorkshire love this Mothers Day! Don't forget.... Mums the Word!

How to wear the tweed snood December 25 2019

Been gifted one of our tweed snoods? Need help on how to wear one? Well here’s a video showing you how to wear your new accessory...

    Helpful tips....

    1. make sure you have the suede loop in your left hand
    2. your right hand needs to hold the parallel corner
    3. place the snood behind your head so that the middle of the snood is inline with the middle of your neck
    4. take your right hand and place the snood on your left collarbone
    5. take your left hand to your right collarbone where you should be able to find the coconut wooden button to loop on to.

Their is is only one button to loop onto  this is because the friction of the two materials hold the first corner up.
